Official documents from government ministries indicate a lack of food products in the state’s emergency warehouses, which is designed in case the state is forced to provide food to citizens and large organizations. In recent days, the state has begun to purchase tens of thousands of tons of basic food items to fill the warehouses in case an emergency procedure is declared.
According to the procedure, Israel is required to prepare for the possibility of distributing food to civilians in emergencies, such as war or earthquake. The proclamation of the procedure means that the military takes responsibility for the civilian economy and takes care, among other things, of distributing food. An extreme scenario, where citizens will have trouble getting out of the house or missing food in stores, requires preparation with large quantities of food in warehouses.
