THE Switch games 2020 are slow to arrive. Or rather, Nintendo has announced a lot of games in the past three years, but by heart we don’t remember such a nebulous period in terms of official release dates. Waiting for next week’s rumored Nintendo Direct to give us more precise indications, and beyond the many independent titles announced at Indie World, here are the games that will arrive in the months immediately after Animal Crossing: New Horizons and those that will arrive. it is not known when.
But before getting on the hype train, do not forget to stamp your tickets by subscribing to the channel and clicking on the bell to not miss any news on the titles for Nintendo Switch and on the world of video games in general.
Let’s start with a couple of revised and corrected versions scheduled for this spring.
The first one is Trials of Manaremake of the third chapter of the Final Fantasy spin-off series to be released on April 24th. An excellent action rpg that mixes exploration with elements typical of Japanese role-playing games. The other is The Wonderful 101: Remastered, the remastered version of one of the most popular and unfortunate Platinum Games action, arriving in Europe on May 22nd. But you can already play in April if you participate in the Kickstarter campaign. Also in April it will also arrive Minecraft Dungeons, the action dungeon crawler set right in the Mojang universe.
Unfortunately, however, our few notices about the Switch game release periods end here.
During the year, at least a dozen titles, including some multiplatforms, should arrive in random order. The port of DOOM Eternal, for example, the excellent first-person shooter of id Software already available on PC and other competing consoles. That of The Outer Worlds, Ironic and profound science fiction RPG created by the creators of Fallout: New Vegas. In 2020 there should also be room for another remastered, that is Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles Remastered, another spin-off from the action cut of the Squaresoft series released between 2003 and 2004 only on Gamecube.
And then the mysterious Gods & Monsters, a title set in Greek mythology created by Ubisoft’s Quebec City division, known for making Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. A new Lego-themed game, or Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, which, as the title suggests, will allow you to relive the events of all the nine films of the saga, without obviously giving up the lightness and comedy typical of the series .
Let’s now move on to the exclusive confirmed for 2020, few but certainly very interesting. Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition it is the port of one of the most popular JRPG of the Wii era and beyond. Monolith Soft’s masterpiece returns in a more defined edition and, hopefully, also with some extra content. Let’s move on to Rune Factory 5, the new chapter of the Neverland RPG saga born as a rib of the Harvest Moon series, a mix between Animal Crossing and the action mechanics typical of Y’s or of the aforementioned Mana series. Nobody would have bet on the release of Deadly Premonition 2 and instead here we are, ten years later, waiting for the sequel to one of the most controversial survival horror films ever. The game will follow investigations in Boston by an FBI agent, which will in turn be connected to those conducted by the protagonist of the first chapter Francis Morgan in New Orleans, and will arrive on Switch during this year. After the spin-off Travis Strikes Again, No More Heroes 3 brings us back to take on the role of Travis Touchdown in a new episode that promises a crazy and becoming plot, just like that of the first two chapters. Bravely Default II is instead the sequel to one of the most acclaimed Japanese role-playing games in recent years, released on Nintendo 3DS and created by the creators of Octopath Traveler.
At this point get ready because we move on to a series of highly anticipated games but on the release date of which we know absolutely nothing. Nisba. Nada de nada.
Starting with the new chapter of Detective Pikachu, announced in the wake of the success of the film during the Pokémon conference last year and then completely disappeared from the radars. Also of Hollow Knight: Silksong the tracks have been lost a little: the sequel to what is considered one of the best metroidvania in recent years will have a new protagonist, new enemies and a new world to explore, and we really can’t wait to get our hands on it . Few hopes of a short exit with regards to Metroid Prime 4, announced at E3 2017 but faced with numerous development problems. Last year the works started again and the metroidvania shooter par excellence was entrusted to the creators of the original trilogy, that is Retro Studios. Similar fate seems to be affected also by Pikmin 4, a strategic detail in real time announced even in 2015 and then disappeared into thin air.
Of Shin Megami Tensei V instead we have some more news: after announcing it at the presentation of Switch in 2017, Atlus has confirmed several times that the development of its role-playing game is proceeding smoothly. Let’s hope he doesn’t wait too long.
The same situation also for Bayonetta 3, the third chapter of the acclaimed Platinum Games action series announced at the Game Awards of the same year. Hideki Kamiya swears that this title is also going well: we want to believe him, but I swear that if he doesn’t come out this year I will block you on Twitter a nasty shit troll that you are nothing else.
Last but not least the new The Legend of Zelda: I don’t hide the fact that the first Breath of the Wild quickly became one of my favorite games, if not my favorite ever and I’m waiting for the sequel as a groupie expects his favorite singer in the backstage.
Announced, as I expected, at E3 2019, according to the latest rumors it had to come out at the end of this year but it seems postponed to 2021 to give the team more time to create the game that fans are waiting for.
These were the games for Nintendo Switch already confirmed and therefore could be protagonists of the next Nintendo Direct. What is what you expect most? Let me know in the comments below.
