Jason Greenblatt,
Former US presidential envoy to the Middle East expresses confidence that the White House and Donald Trump do
As much as you can to prevent the spread of the Corona virus
In his country. “From my acquaintance with the team and President Trump for 23 years, I’m sure they are doing their best to keep America safe,” Greenblatt said in a special interview to Ynet’s studio on Tuesday.

The interview with Greenblatt was conducted before the American President’s remarks,
Who said he hoped his country’s economy could “reopen” as early as Easter on April 12.

The US president, who hopes to be re-elected in November, fears that a major injury to the economy as a result of the Corona crisis will hurt his chances of being elected, and has changed in recent days: May cause the virus.

Despite the surge in the number of infected and dead in the US – at present it has more than 50,000 infected and about 600 dead (according to CNN and John Hopkins University counts) – the president again said today that steps like closure have already been imposed on more than a third of all Americans – are “a cure for the problem.”

Referring to what appears to be a White House scam for the virus, the former Greenbelt envoy said: “I think if more information was received from China, the White House would learn more about it and know better how to respond. The president, his deputy and all staff are doing their best to learn And respond daily to every piece of information that comes up.

“I’m sure they are doing everything possible to prevent the spread of the virus as far as can be predicted, and are also trying to reduce the damage to the economy. We all know this is a huge challenge, but I think they are doing their best.”

– The president was cynical about the virus at first, saying that by April everything would pass.
“I don’t think he was cynical. I think what he was trying to do was calm America’s fears, and fears were spreading around the world. I think when he realized the virus was going to spread, he responded to the information more openly. I think his job was to make sure Panic. I think it works very delicately and does the job better than expected. ”

– In the United States, few tests have been done and many young people, for example in New York, are being hospitalized. Does America care about these patients?
“I think for most areas the answer is yes, but it can change very quickly if we don’t follow the quarantine decisions. My family and I have been under voluntary isolation for 10 days. The governor of New Jersey and the mayor of New Jersey started the isolation earlier and I think Which is very, very important.

“I think the isolation in New York has come a little too late, but they are doing their best to deal with it. The whole world has the challenge of treating sick people. I think Israel is doing a great job. Even Arab countries are quarantining and in some cases stopping. To deal with the situation of this invisible deadly threat. ”

Trump: Want the economy to open by April

– America was the first to act in such cases in the past, and now it seems to be behind. Aren’t you afraid of getting the virus yourself?
“I don’t know if we’re right behind everyone else. It started with us in many other countries. Started in Asia, moved to Europe and now it came here and it broke out powerfully here in California, New York, etc.

“I’m very aware of the situation, but think a lot of rational people are adopting awareness. I trust our government in all counties to deal with this crisis. It will only work if everyone cooperates. When I see people at the beach, when I hear people are still hosting big weddings because they think It’s immune to it, it puts me under pressure.

“We all need to work together. If we do not work together, not only in America, if countries do not work together it will develop into a terrible cycle. I think everyone needs to work together to get through this crisis and find solutions that will not happen again. I think it may happen. Again, this is something that everyone should take note of. ”

– A lot of Americans, especially young people, act like you said irresponsibly. Why not explain to them what’s going on?
“I think they get an explanation, I see it in the news all the time. I think they don’t notice or stupidly think they’re immune to it, and they don’t. In fact, young people can suffer from it, and more than that – young people can catch up with the older ones and that’s actually the danger “I think we will see the change this week and the young people will take it more seriously.”

– Are you afraid millions of Americans will die in hospitals?
“Hospitals, the health system, the towns, the cities – everyone is doing their best to deal with it. We need more respirators, that’s the big challenge. I don’t know if there is another country in the world that doesn’t suffer from respiratory deficiencies. Know that everyone is trying to bring the right equipment to the right places and also trying to slow down the spread and infection.

“If we all stay home, the medical organizations will be able to cope with the amount of people expected. But if the young people continue to act that way, we will have a serious problem. It’s not just America trying to reduce the spread. Clearly, Israel is trying to do that, as are its neighbors.”

– What can be done internationally?

“We have to cooperate 100 percent. We need to share information, it’s a virus that attacks humanity and we have to put aside all the controversies, all the politics, and everyone has to work together to find the cure. Give the best information, give the best practice for treatment And work together to get the treatment done.

“I’m currently part of the largest investment stage. They work on things like artificial intelligence, remote diagnostics and things that try to help patients, retain doctors and reduce their exposure and also help patients. I think this technology should be widely shared. In an organization that tries to put together all kinds of real estate assets that will help our government do more testing by opening test centers, as Magen David Adom does in Israel. ”

– The US medical system is different from the system in Israel, people have to pay a lot of money to get medical care. How do you worry about people who can’t afford it and become sick?
“What I hear from the White House is the attention of the US government to help anyone who needs medical attention in this crisis and doesn’t have the ability to get it. I don’t know how they’re going to manage it, but I think it’s the government’s responsibility to make sure no one Not left behind in this crisis. ”
