Dog hero saves the two owners from the snake that bites him and kills him
It happened yesterday at 10 am in Vallonga di Arzergrande. The pit bulls had fled just before from the fence of a house and at the command of the brigade an alarmed phone call had already arrived: a cyclist had been attacked by the two animals and had managed to struggle to escape. Pezzato went to the scene of the report and after a few minutes of research he saw the two animals scurrying on the road a hundred meters away.
The deputy commander called the veterinary service, but in the meantime tried to block the pit bulls. And after a few minutes the unpredictable happened.
The 27 nursery school students with carers passed along that road: taking advantage of the sunny morning they were taking a walk before returning to the kindergarten. The dogs were dangerously close and Pezzato had the intuition to gather children and teachers and had them enter the nearby carpentry shop on Via Montagnon. At first the carers did not understand what was happening. Only when they were all safe did they understand the serious risk they were taking.
But it wasn't over for the policeman. With the children safe, the "battle" began with the two pit bulls, a male and a female, who surrounded the agent, barking and growling, while numerous passers-by began to scream, fearing the worst.
Pezzato has unsheathed his ordering gun, but has done everything not to use it, although at one point he was bitten in one leg by one of the two dogs. Then, finally, the arrival of the veterinary staff, who managed to block the two pit bulls, using a rope with which the animals were tied.
Ninety interminable minutes have elapsed since the alarm went off at the end of the morning of fear. With the pit bulls tied, the Pezzato agent collapsed to the ground exhausted. Not so much for the pain caused by the bite, but for the fatigue and nervous energies profuse during the rescue of the class. The 46-year-old was accompanied to the emergency room: the ordinance protected his leg, however injured. The police were given drugs to prevent possible infections.
The owner of the animals, G.I., 42, now risks a complaint for injuries and omitted custody and mismanagement of animals. Financial penalties are also arriving. The dogs were taken to a facility in Selvazzano where they will be kept under observation for a few days, to assess their danger.
In the afternoon the parents of the 27 rescued children contacted the town hall to publicly thank the policeman.
