It will still be a summer in the name of Pearl Jam. And when Eddie Vedder and associates travel from Italy, it's always an event. One of the most popular US bands in our country – affection reciprocated – is about to return. As anticipated, the veterans of the grunge era will be the great international guest of the summer that will come to the Enzo and Dino Ferrari racetrack in Imola, Sunday 5 July 2020. It will be the band's only Italian date, in a European tour between festivals and large arenas of fifteen stages. Another hit scored by Imola, which on 26 June already awaits Vasco Rossi and then on 18 July Cesare Cremonini. Tickets (nominal) will be on sale from December 7th, the Pixies will open the show.

There will probably be a new album to present, the eleventh of his career, which should be released in late spring, before returning to the road, in the live dimension in which Pearl Jam have always given the best, little scenography and lots of music, among ladders river always different and rarities given away to the fans especially when it comes to unique stages or in unusual locations. And for Imola it will be a first time, as well as the only one in Italy in 2020.In a musical scene where pop reigns among its various sub-categories, synth-pop, power-pop, it-pop, dance-pop; Pearl Jam is today among the last veterans of what was once called rock without the need for endings. And a long way has passed since a gas station in San Diego sent drummer Jack Irons a cassette with the text of what would later become "Alive", one of the hymns of grunge culture. It was 1990, that gas station was Eddie Vedder, who a year later will be an icon of world rock. The grunge and the 90s its protagonists soon if they are devoured almost all of them, in a self-destructive spiral that left Mudhoney, Melvins, what remains of the Alice in Chains, and a few others. And Pearl Jam, now as then able to fill stadiums and move generations. Especially in Italy, a country with which they have a particular bond, it will be for the love of Vedder's wine. Last "Riot act" of a career in the obstinate and contrary direction, starting from the choice not to shoot video clips in a historical phase in which MTV commanded the discography, or the very long concerts and the different ladders from evening to evening, to make each show an event to himself. To which each time it is worth to participate, again and again.
