The Guardia di Finanza of La Spezia has uncovered 230 'caregivers' total evaders, in an operation called 'Bada bene'. The family collaborators identified did not present the tax return for the tax years from 2014 to 2017, failing to declare incomes for a total amount exceeding 11 million euros and thus avoiding the payment of taxes for about 3 million euros. EUR.The investigation started in the context of controls on facilitated social services provided to domestic workers and caregivers, mostly foreigners, mainly from Eastern Europe or South America: many systematically omitted to indicate the income received from work when requesting the facilitation. Some of the collaborators controlled were maturing a contributory position that would have allowed, at the end of the relationship, to request the unemployment benefit (so-called NASpI) which in many cases exceeded 5,000 euros, as well as of course health care, and all this, without paying no tax to the State.
In one case, only one domestic worker failed to declare over 100,000 euros in income in 5 years. All the workers concerned admitted the 'forgetfulness' and expressed the will to heal their position with the tax authorities as soon as possible: the case of a worker who presented herself showing her credit card to pay the amount due immediately was emblematic.
