RECIT – At the mercy of the case and the parliamentary hearings, the incriminating evidence accumulates about the pressure exerted by relatives of the president on his Ukrainian counterpart.

Three years after his election to the White House, Donald Trump faces the most serious crisis of his mandate. Accused of using his position to seek help from a foreign country for electoral purposes, he is now the fourth president in US history to be the subject of an impeachment investigation. In less than a month, the "Ukrainegate" has put Trump on the defensive.

A call "friendly"

It all starts with a phone call. On July 25, Donald Trump calls from the White House the new Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky, another TV star entered politics. The conversation between the two men lasts about 30 minutes. His transcript, made public since then, is incomplete, and no doubt lacks the crucial elements. But what remains of it, between unsaid and implied, evokes more an episode of Soprano, this American series featuring a family of gangsters from New Jersey, a diplomatic conversation.
