Casey Stoner confessed to suffering from chronic fatigue syndrome. He cannot perform a normal life: "Forced on the sofa for several days".
Casey Stoner surprised everyone with a statement to ‘Rusty’s Garage’, an American podcast presented by journalist Greg Rust. While everyone was thinking of the former MotoGP champion in a sweet and carefree retreat, there's news that leaves the world of motorsport stunned. The Australian suffers from chronic fatigue and this precludes him from any sporting activity. A few weeks ago he rode a motorcycle for an Alpinestars event, but he could not push as usual and in the following days he paid the physical consequences. The situation has slightly improved with the taking of new drugs, but after a day of outdoor activities he is forced to rest for at least four or five days at home.
Casey Stoner left MotoGP at the end of 2012 after two world titles. He continued his racing career on the sidelines of the paddock, first as a Honda test driver and then on the Ducati. Since this year he has decided to leave the racing world permanently. On social networks we have often seen him smiling while he is playing golf or fishing. But behind that smile lies a long suffering that he has only publicly revealed in the last hours. "I haven't been karting for over a year, I no longer have the strength to do it. It would cost me a week on the couch. I can't do the things I like best. It's a bit frustrating. I haven't even been shooting with the bow for more than ten months".
Chronic fatigue syndrome is associated with another health problem. "There are also problems with the ribs, the spine and the intervertebral discs when they are loaded. This causes cramps and it takes a good week to be able to move again". The last time he rode a MotoGP was in January 2018, when he conducted a test with Ducati at Sepang. Shortly after he underwent surgery on his right shoulder and since then he has never returned to the track. "The first time I got back on a road bike since that test last January, it was only a couple of weeks ago. We've been around a few guys. We didn't squeeze, but it influenced me enough".
Now Casey Stoner is rehearsing with a new cure, but her condition still remains precarious. These days he is on vacation in Florida and on social networks he shares videos about his great passion, fishing. "I still can't train as I would like, go out and do all the things. On the contrary, he leaves me on the couch for about a week, or at least four or five days, and this makes my wife's life difficult".
