Cash roof, what changes with the new limits

    <p>In the last draft of the tax decree the following were confirmed: <strong>new thresholds</strong> for the prohibition to use the <strong>cash</strong>. From 1 January 2020 to 31 December 2021, as reported by Adnkronos, the roof is set at<strong> 2,000 euros</strong>. From the first of January 2022, however, the ban is triggered at the threshold of <strong>1,000 euros</strong>.

The standard, as explained in the explanatory report, changes the cash usage regime according to a transitory logic that will be spread over the next two years.

Favorable and against

Changes to the cash usage regime, as explained by the premier Giuseppe Conte, are aimed at facilitating transactions within the circuit of authorized intermediaries and financials.

"The cash", explained Conte to Ansa, "It is a cost also for banks. There are studies that estimate the cost a 10 billion a year, because behind there is a great use of people who guard, transport and manage cash ”.

For Matteo Salvinion the contrary, cash payment must be safeguarded. "The last thing to do seems to force everyone to have a credit card," said the leader of the League as reported by Ansa, "unless you want to help the usual banks ".

What does the current rule provide?

The ban on transferring cash and bearer securities in euro and in foreign currency, according to the current law, is set at a total value equal to or greater than 3,000 euros.

The provision, according to what Adnkronos reports from the technical report, does not produce new or greater charges for public finance, being assisted by a transitional regime capable of neutralizing any effects at full capacity.
