Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's special envoy to Panama, Jean Charest, visited the facilities of the Panama Canal “to identify opportunities for greater collaboration. The effectiveness and professionalism of the waterway, ”said the Canadian Embassy.

Previously, the politician met with the Minister of Commerce and Industry, Ramón Martínez, and the Minister of Investment Adviser, José Alejandro Rojas, to discuss issues of the bilateral relationship between the two countries and identify opportunities for greater collaboration.

“Thank you ministers for a fruitful discussion about strengthening the growing commercial and investment ties. A constructive dialogue on joint priorities aligned with President Laurentino Cortizo, ”he said.

This meeting addressed topics such as: scholarships, commerce, tourism and the process of issuing visas for Panamanian passports.

“We share values, such as tolerance, democracy and inclusion. We are close allies and examples of countries with open economies that benefit greatly from a world in which these values ​​thrive, ”added the Canadian embassy.

For its part, the government of Panama through the Foreign Ministry explained that the visit of Jean Charest was conducive to express the willingness of the Government of Laurentino Cortizo to facilitate good investments that reactivate the economy and provide employment opportunities.
