MLB: One point and no shot for Justin Verlander against the Toronto Blue Jays

            <p>Justin Verlander of the Houston Astros launched a point-and-shoot game against the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday and owes a great tribute to Quebecker Abraham Toro.

With a 0-0 tie and two outs early in the ninth, Toro hit a two-run homerun for his thrower to complete the feat for the third time in his career.

He is the fifth pitcher in the history of major league to score three times a game without a point or a hit.

In 2011, Verlander, then with the Detroit Tigers, had managed the same feat against the Blue Jays. His first was in 2007 against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Toro, who was not from the starting lineup, also participated in the last withdrawal of the match as he grabbed a Bo Bichette roll before putting the ball back to first base.

Verlander has 14 outs with 120 shots. His only fault was to give Cavan Biggio a walk in the first heat.

This is the second game without point or hit of the Astros in less than a month. On August 3, four pitchers combined their efforts to make it a success against the Seattle Mariners.

The 36-year-old veteran dominates the Major Leagues in both strikeouts and innings, and is second in the number of wins (17). He also dominates the American League for the average points earned.

Verlander was sent off on his previous start against the Tampa Bay Rays after challenging a referee's decision behind the plate.

The Astros hit only five hits in this encounter.
