Giovanni Brusca, denied house arrest: for the Cassation repentance must be deepened and verified over time

Evidence of "an effective accomplished repentance" is lacking According to the Cassation, the surveillance court correctly deduced the lack of proof of "an effective complete repentance", a course "currently only undertaken". He made an interpretation in line with the jurisprudence where he maintains that "Brusca's effort in expressing his civil repentance and his intent to reconcile with the families of the victims and of society as a whole must be deepened and verified over time". And where he believes that "the seriousness of the crimes committed by Brusca and the criminal caliber which he has shown in his life to possess, lead to considering the certain and definitive proof of his repentance not yet acquired".
