Here are the first images of Toyota Yaris Cross, the new B-Suv that will be produced in France
The Yaris Cross is an all-new B-Suv, which comes from the floor of the Yaris and then strengthens all the know-how of the Toyota group: the design inspired by the largest Rav4, the hybrid power supply, the spaciousness and versatility of a Corolla. Compared to the Yaris, of which it shares the 2,560 mm pitch but not the length, which grows by 240 mm up to 4.18 meters, the new Yaris Cross has a 30mm higher ground clearance. The overall height of the car exceeds that of the normal Yaris by 90 mm and this gives it off-road qualities worthy of the Toyota prestige. Standard traction is front, but is available on request intelligent all-wheel drive AWD-i system.
The new B-Suv offers superior functionality for the category. There is, for example, the electrically operated tailgate, very useful when you have your hands busy. The load compartment is adjustable in depth and also has a additional compartment under the floor, in addition to being equipped with a new system of adjustable belts to fix objects. The passenger compartment has 5 seats and the rear seats can be separated in the 40/20/40 ratio.
The hybrid is a must in the home Toyota and so here is the new engine 3 cylinders 1.5 liter Atkinson cycle and 116 HP of power, assisted by an electrical unit. It is a propulsion system that we already know about Yaris and designed to reduce internal frictions, optimizing combustion. The new Yaris Cross will be produced in France in the Valenciennes factory, at the rate of 150,000 units per year. Europe will therefore be the reference market for the car, but on the road we will see it only in 2021.
