«95% of people in Sicily stay home, don’t go around, the peak of coronavirus infections is expected to arrive by mid-AprilSaid the President of the Region, Nello Musumeci, interviewed on Sky Tg24.

“In Sicily the economic epidemic arrived before the peak of the health one” and there is a “bomb” social “to be defused”, although, “fortunately so far there have been no violent actions, except that episode in the supermarket of Palermo ».

Two weeks of lockdowns, Musumeci observed, “have put a company in trouble including temporary workers who leave the house in the morning to earn 30-40 euros”. The Region has allocated € 100 million for “food assistance” and “it is good”, he stressed, “that the government has taken other similar measures”.

On the efforts made to increase the places in intensive care: “In the ordinary regime we have 411 intensive care places, we think we can set up at least another 500. We have already converted some public hospital wards and we have obtained the availability of private facilities”.
