Mattarella recalls the parties: "Necessary dialogue. Unemployment the first enemy"

ROME – "We know that politics also involves clashes" but, as Aldo Moro said, today we also need "the common acceptance of essential reasons of freedom, respect and dialogue". The president Sergio Mattarella said this when he met the high offices of the State at the Quirinale. "A society crossed by deep lacerations – continued the head of the state – runs a serious danger, whoever has an institutional role must feel the responsibility to do it in the name and on behalf of all citizens". The president then continued: "The common good is good for everyone, without exception. And whoever administers public affairs, whoever is called to govern certainly expresses the majority's guidelines but with the duty to respect and guarantee freedom and rights of others, of minorities. This is the essence of democracy, which requires mutual respect ".The president has also indicated to the political forces the "enemies" to be defeated: and the first is unemployment. "The prolonged phase of weakness in the economy – said Mattarella – has weighed heavily on the productive apparatus of our country, with heavy employment consequences and serious phenomena of social disintegration. Here is the mission to fight for and the enemy to be defeated together: the work that is lacking, that work indicated as the foundation of our Republic ".
