Cutting the number of parliamentarians is a nonsense, it is useless, savings are minimal and it does not streamline the bureaucracy at all.
The grillini proposed thinning out in hopes of picking up a handful of votes from people who detest MPs and senators for futile reasons or for general grudge against politicians.
It would have been much more useful to adhere to Matteo Renzi's idea, that of abolishing the assembly of Palazzo Madama so as to establish a healthy single chamber. Suggestion rejected with loss by the most senseless referendum in Republican history.
I must add that even the young President of the Council lily had made a mistake in drafting his reform: he demanded not the complete cancellation of the Senate, as would have been appropriate, but his transformation into a place suitable for wasting time, in which to gather a hundreds of regional representatives in charge of dealing with idiots. Obviously the citizens have understood little or nothing of the changes made by the former mayor of Florence and have rejected them with the following reasoning: do you want to cancel the Senate? Just do it. But you can't cancel just one piece.
Renzi compared to Di Maio and Conte is however a Nobel prize.
The reduction of the ladies would bring no advantage except one: pending the referendum, the shears will not be able to intervene, so that the government will be able to safely cease its harmful activity, and the Parliament will remain intact from a numerical point of view. And the next one, which will come out of the polls, will be exactly as crowded as today.
