The 8-bit world comes off the screen and overlaps with reality. After Pokemon Go, Minecraft Earth also arrives in Italy: the famous video game by Microsoft in style sandbox lands in the reality that surrounds us thanks to augmented reality. Those "closed" worlds in the Minecraft universe and built (or knocked down), block by block, in 3D come out of the screen to let us play anywhere. Available from today for Android and IOS, thanks to the early access (therefore a version still in trial, with possible big ones) that follows a beta phase only for a limited number of users, the Mojang game becomes a shared adventure (sessions in time, automatically generated) where it is possible to invent and build, create objects, cultivate and even fight against the IRL mobs that pop up on the smartphone screen depending on where we are.

We fight, in short, but not to capture the monsters (more or less coveted) of the Poke mon Go around the city. Minecraft Earth superimposes virtual reality on the one we live in, to allow us to fight other monsters, search for resources and above all build with those colored cubes that the minecrafters well know. What it takes to pull up a wall, a bridge, a fortress or any structure is the material (pebbles, sand, earth) that must be extracted from objects geolocated on the map. The game is free to download, except then purchases in the app that can be done during the sessions.
It may happen, for example, to cross the nearby park by hitting an abandoned mine with a treasure trove of useful resources. A virtual place that other players will share with us It is there, or at least around the corner everywhere, that we can run into new mobs to meet, friends or enemies: like the friendly Muddy Pig, Moodbloom, Jumbo Rabbit and Cluckshroom. The game that has even surpassed Tetris for sales, reaching 176 million copies, is now betting on AR defying the gift of ubiquity. However, it will be necessary to see how many of the 91 million active users per month in 2018 – in continuous increase – will decide to challenge each other even putting their nose outside the house. It is the bet of Minecraft Earth, launched to celebrate 10 years since the creation of the videogame that until now, thanks to those virtual worlds to be invented, has proved to be a gold mine.
