An intervention currently underway concerning an individual in crisis in Tring-Jonction

The police of the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) were called to intervene early this morning concerning an individual in crisis. The intervention is currently underway and is taking place on Commercial Street in Tring-Jonction.

The SQ police were notified of the situation around 7:30 am and are currently on site to assess the situation with the individual in question.

According to SQ spokeswoman Ann Mathieu, the police deployment is still ongoing.

"We have specialized squads on the spot who have been displaced, in case the situation would require it. It's really for prevention, "she said.

A perimeter had been erected this morning and residents had been evacuated.

"Not far from 20 residences had been evacuated preventively," added the spokeswoman.

The Municipality of Tring-Jonction has also set up a place to welcome all these people.

Operation completed

There was peaceful surrender of the individual around 4 pm The man, who was disturbed, was transported to the hospital to get proper care for his condition, according to the SQ.

As for the evacuees, they were able to return to their homes after the perimeter was lifted.
