If you have a credit card that you have updated with the installments planned for the month of July of this year, it belongs to the group of people that recognizes the Financial Superintendence of Colombia, in its system news report (see Report).

According to the entity, the amounts owed that do not have late payments or have less than 30 days totaled 461.9 billion pesos, which is equivalent to an increase of 2.7 billion compared to June this year "and a real annual growth of 4.34% ”, which implies that compared to the total amount borrowed from the financial system, it corresponds to 95.3%.

Thus, the indicator that shows how the proportion between unpaid loans and the total due to the financial system was 4.67%, which indicates that it is a positive result. "In July, the past-due portfolio registered a balance of 22.7 billion pesos, equivalent to a real annual variation of -3.12%," the report said.

When analyzed by type of credit it is evident that the only overdue debts that have increased were those of housing with 9% and closed at 2.4 billion pesos.

It is surprising that the delinquent obligations that have shown the most decreases in this period are those of microcredit (-5.26%) and consumption (-5.17%); that of commercial loans, tied to business activity decreased, but to a lesser extent (-3.81%) compared to last year.

A rational exercise

The arrival of the premium and the end of the year vacations certainly invite us to reflect on how the finances are going for the second semester and to some extent this indicator helps people to become more predictable.

Raúl Ávila Professor of the National University supports part of this reduction in this period.

"There is a rational exercise on your debt expectations to plan the end of the year and reduce and pay debts," said the expert.

For its part, the Confidence Index published by Davivienda from September (with cut to August), ensures that in this month the percentage of people who believe that it is a good time to acquire a financial obligation observed a slight rebound “after three months consecutive decrease ”.

Of the total respondents by this company, 13% responded favorably to this question. In July this percentage was 12.8%.

Finally, the Superfinancial reported that the gross portfolio grew 3.96%, led by consumer credit (8.61%) and housing credit (8.10%).
