According to the municipality, the waters and strong winds cause flooding in the area. Erie Shore Drive was closed from the Bissnet Line to Erieau Road.

The authorities are asking residents of the area concerned to evacuate voluntarily. Emergency teams will go door-to-door to assist in the evacuation.

The municipality provides shelter and transportation for affected residents and their pets.

Due to the conditions and possible deterioration of the roads, the water supply in the area could be affected, warns Chatham-Kent Mayor Darrin Canniff in a statement.

The municipality will reduce the pressure of the water to protect the line and the roadway in case of failure, but the quality of drinking water will not be affected, the statement said.

Authorities provide shelter and transportation for affected residents and their pets.

According to the Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority, wind speed and direction should be maintained throughout the week and the weekend.

Residents are invited to contact the municipality at 519.360.1998 for more information on the services available.
