" This drop is
0.2% for customers who use gas for cooking, 0.5% for those with dual use
, cooking and hot water, and
1.0% for homes that burn on gas "Says the Energy Regulatory Commission.
In its deliberation, the CRE emphasizes that following a smoothing mechanism put in place by the government, the increase in Engie's gas supply cost has been more than compensated. That's why the rates reflect this slight decrease.
4.2 million households concerned
These are precisely the costs related to gas supply that increase Engie's regulated tariffs every month. Procurement costs are the supplier's gas link to infrastructure but also its commercialization and associated taxes. 4.2 million French households are affected by these price fluctuations.
Smooth tariffs to avoid significant changes
The government had decided to go down slightly from what was provided for by this mechanism on July 1 and then be able to smooth down the decline over several months so as not to cause excessive fluctuations in bills in the fall.
