It's chaos on seats antiabbandono. From last 7 November, when the obligation for the parents to be in possession of the devices in accordance with the law came into force, with heavy fines for those without it, the families and the producers found themselves displaced. Beyond the haste with which it was activated the obligation, there are several critical points highlighted by consumer associations. An investigation of Altroconsumo highlighted, for example, how the number of products available on the market is still insufficient to put everyone in order, without forgetting the fact that some of the devices currently on sale do not have all the features required by the decree implementing the law 117/2018, so much so that it can be found out of order. Moreover, the contribution to the purchase of 30 euros so publicized by the Government is not yet usable because there are no rules and precise indications to request it.
In this situation of uncertainty also the Codacons he expressed his doubts, underlining also the problem related to the growing prices of anti-abandon seats: '' The scarcity of the offer, in the face of a growing demand due to the obligatory nature of last 7 November, is leading to a rapid increase of the retail prices of this product, to the point that for a seat you get to spend more than 500 EUR. All this while the uncertainty reigns over the technical requirements of these devices and the sanctions for those who do not comply, with the Government that announced extensions for which the bureaucratic process will take weeks, if not months ".
Anti-abandon seats, an amendment to stop the sanctions presented
To avoid a fine psychosis and have time to clarify the obscure points and allow all families to get in order, the best way forward would be to postpone the application of the sanctions to those found to be lacking in anti-abandon seats. In this regard, the PD presented an amendment to the tax decree in the Finance Committee to the House which provides for a halt to penalties for those who have not installed the anti-abandon seats in the car.
The proposed amendment provides that: "the sanctions provided" by the New Highway Code "shall not apply to those who violate the obligation to install devices to prevent the abandonment of children in closed vehicles" until 6 March 2020.
Anti-abandonment seats, Minister Bonetti: "We pay a previous mess"
"On the anti-abandon seats we pay a previous mess, the rule had to be introduced before the arrival of this government. The minister De Micheli found herself having to accelerate. Applying a procedure of this type foreseeing sanctions immediately has undoubtedly created inconveniences for the families I know the government is considering corrections ". This is the comment of Elena Bonetti, minister for Equal Opportunities and the Family, during the Circo Massimo program on Radio Capital.
