The landing in the banking sector of the Iliad Group is becoming increasingly concrete

Last September we updated you on what appears to be an imminent launch of the Iliad Group in the banking sector, after years of rumors about the birth of a FreeBank, a trademark registered by the group in June 2000 and renewed in 2010 at the Institut National de la Propriete Intellectuelle (INPI). Now, or rather last week, in the French media (quoted today by Milan Finance), we returned to talk about FreeBank (or what will be the trade name that will be used in France), because the Iliad Group has obtained authorization from the ACPR (Autorite de contrôle prudentiel et de resolution – the Supervisory Authority for banking and insurance companies) to operate in current account services and to order payment orders (bank transfers).

According to the data of theEBA (European Banking Authority), this authorization dates back to last October 24th. After the competitor's launch Orange with its banking services, a landing in France seems increasingly imminent also for the Iliad Group.

At present, nothing similar is expected in our country, but if the formula is the same as used in the mobile phone service (transparency, without hidden costs and low prices), potential customers would certainly not miss us.
