A few days ago INVALSI published a document, with which it provides indications to the schools about the computer based tests of the V classes of secondary schools of grade II.

The tests will be census and will cover three areas (Italian, Mathematics and English). The questions will vary for each student and will be extracted from a database. And above all they will be computer based (CBT) and will take place over a period of time, assigned to the school by INVALSI between 2 March 2020 and 31 March 2020, while for the sample classes between 9 March 2020 and 12 March 2020.

administration

The tests will not take place simultaneously on the same day and at the same time for all students of Italian schools; And even within the same school or the same class the administration of a test may take place at different times or days.

Therefore, at the individual student level, the administration can take place:

  • to. in three separate days chosen by the school within the assigned administration window, a day for each disciplinary area (recommended solution)
  • b. in two separate days chosen by the school within the assigned administration window (not optimal solution)
  • c. in a single day chosen by the school within the assigned administration window (not recommended).

Duration of tests

  • to. Italian: 120 minutes,
  • b. Mathematics: 120 minutes,
  • c. English-reading: 90 minutes,
  • d. English-listening: approximately 60 minutes (the duration of the test may vary slightly from student to student).

Preparation of schools

The note also illustrates the preliminary operations to be carried out by the schools and the expected timing.
