The fourth generation of the is coming Skoda Octavia, the best-selling model of the Czech brand. The car has only slightly larger outside dimensions, but promises a "space miracle" in the interior. From an aesthetic point of view, the modifications of the new version – arriving in 2020 – have made Mlada Boleslav's car more sculptural.

But the major innovations have been the sectors of technology and motorization. The latter also includes a mild hybrid engine and a plug in.

Skoda Octavia: features

The new Skoda Octavia has grown by 22 millimeters in length and 15 in width, at least as regards the Wagon version, which is now 469 cm long and 183 cm wide. The step size remained 268 cm.

The Wagon has thus seen the luggage capacity increase by 30 liters and, according to the automaker, at 640 liters it is already the largest in the segment. The trunk of the sedan grew instead of 10 liters, thus reaching 600 liters.

The front has become more gritty, with the larger grille now moved downwards and the bonnet crossed by more lines. In line with the latest market trends, the rear window is now more inclined and the lights are horizontal, so as to give the new Skoda Octavia a more slender appearance.

Skoda Octavia: interiors and technology

The quality of the interiors has improved a lot, where now fabric inserts and good quality finishes stand out. Great the infotainment system, which is controlled through a screen – up to 10 inches – which also allows voice and gesture commands.

There is also the head-up display, which shows essential information immediately under the gaze of the driver.

With the smartphone you can now control some functions such as opening and closing the doors.

Skoda Octavia: engines

There are 5 engines available for the new one Skoda Octavia: mild hybrid, plug in, petrol, diesel and methane.

The light hybrid is offered in two versions, with the 1.0 gasoline turbo 1.0 or the 150 hp, both combined with a 48 V battery.

The plug-in hybrid is also offered in two versions, with the 1.4 petrol or 204 hp 245 hp.

Then there is the 2.0 190 bhp with four-wheel drive. The choice of diesel is wide, with a 2.0 engine available with 116, 150 or 200 hp. Only the last combination has four-wheel drive.

Finally the Skoda Octavia it is also proposed in monovalent methane: the engine is the 1.5 with 150 hp.

The transmission is, depending on the version chosen, the 6-speed or 7-speed double-clutch DSG robot or 6-speed manual.

Skoda Octavia: price and release date

The new Skoda Octavia will be available starting in May 2020. The official prices are not yet known, but in all probability they will start from around 22,000 euros for the saloon version and 23,000 euros for the Wagon.
