News arriving at Malpensa and Linate. A return to the past would be more accurate to say, at Malpensa and Linate airports. In the focus of the Sea, the company that manages the airports, make everything easier and faster. And put creams and liquids over 100 ml in your hand luggage. We could also put computers, tablets and smartphones back on the bags without having to take them out. Not only: new procedures to cut the time to reach the gate. A process that has already begun and will be completed soon.

Automated lines

Automated lines for hand luggage checks will be installed: up to 250 people will be "processed" per hour. At Malpensa Terminal 2 they are already active.

Tac to hand luggage

The Eds-Cb machines (Explosives detection systems for cabin baggage) with Tac technology will be installed instead of the traditional x-ray machines. They will be operational at Linate by the summer and by the end of 2020 at Malpensa (where they are testing two). It is a technology already in use for hold checks that increases the safety of the airport because it automatically recognizes the minimum percentage of explosives. The passenger must no longer remove his / her baggage from computers, tablets and smartphones or liquids. The need to fill a smaller number of trays will also reduce queues.

Biometric facial recognition

Frictionless journey, an uninterrupted travel experience: with biometric facial recognition to make passengers' access to the terminal more fluid and faster. There will also be self boarding, automatic boarding: cameras will be mounted with biometric seamless functionality at the gate. Everything will be done the first time you arrive at the airport in dedicated kiosks, in a sort of registration with the insertion of biometric data associating them with an electronic passport or identity card (the airport should keep the data for a year). In this way you will go from the first gate to the boarding without ever extracting the documents. Because boarding pass and documents will be automatically matched to the passenger's face.

Abolish the queues

Self bag drop. The passenger will check in online and, arriving at the airport, will avoid having to check in the baggage by putting it on the belt and labeling it.

Fiumicino

News also in Rome. Fiumicino and Ciampino are the two most crowded airports of Italy (42.99 million passengers in 2018 at Fiumicino, 5.81 million at Ciampino). Ceiling sensors are provided to help manage flows better. The goal is to reduce waiting times to less than 4 minutes for 100% of travelers and 3 minutes and 45 seconds for 95%. Thanks to Standard3, it is possible to detect the presence of explosive material in hold baggage.
