NEW AERODYNAMICS – 2021 will be a year of great changes for the Formula 1, because the new technical regulation will come into force and will run new single-seater. Their "baptism" took place on the eve of the United States GP, when they were shown in definitive form after months of studies and simulations, carried out together with the stables, the International Federation of Cars and organizers of Formula 1. To hit new cars it is the most futuristic aspect (in this page the official drawings of F1 and Renault), with sinuous lateral bellies and a new aerodynamics: the front wing and the aileron, besides being reduced, are also devoid of fins (the DRS remains for the rear wing, with the which increase speed in straights to facilitate overtaking). Also the appendages above the front wheels are unusual.

25 KG MORE – From the 2021 the single-seater they will have circles of 18 "instead of 13" (as for those of today), in addition to a renewed bodywork bottom. The new aerodynamics of the single-seaters, according to what was announced, has the objective of facilitating overtaking and eliminating a defect of today's Formula 1 cars, which are very penalized when they "take" the wake of another single-seater: from 2021 the car in wake will lose only 5-10% of aerodynamic downforce (the air thrust on the bodywork that makes the car more stable), against almost 50% of today's cars. It is also expected that the teams will have less freedom to change car parts during race weekends, while parts like the petrol pump and the wheel cover in the center of each wheel will be the same for all the teams. It has been calculated that the single-seaters will be heavier than 25 kilograms compared to those of today, for a total of 685 kg (excluding the pilot and liquids), while the hybrid systems with the 1.6 turbo engine will remain unchanged.

THE FRIDAY STARTS – The change from 2021 will also be the cost ceiling for the stables, which will be able to invest a maximum of 175 million dollars (157 million euros) per season. The sum is calculated on the basis of a championship with 21 races, but it will be corrected upwards if the GPs per season were to increase (ie it seems likely). With a view to containing costs, Thursday will be eliminated, used by the teams for interviews or promotional activities with sponsors: from 2021 they will have to do them on Friday morning, while the two free practice sessions will be played in the afternoon. Instead the rule that in 2021 the teams will have to run a driver with less than two GPs in his career in at least two free practice sessions per season is to mature new drivers.
