The period ended with a net profit of 686 million euros, up 30.9% compared to 525 million in the same period of the previous year.
The operating management result fell from 1.68 billion to 1.11 billion euro (-34.1%), while operating income fell by 17.2% to 3.1 billion euro from 3.75 billion of euros in the same period of 2019.
At September 30, 2019 the Common Equity Tier 1 ratio (CET1 ratio) it is equal to 13.8%, substantially unchanged with respect to 30 June 2019.
Also at the end of September, net customer loans amounted to € 105.7 billion, up € 2.9 billion compared to December 31, 2018.
On the same date non-performing loans amounted to € 6 billion, down 11.3% compared to the beginning of the year. The coverage ratio of the entire aggregate of non-performing loans stands at 42.8% (45.8% including write-offs), a slight decrease compared to 43.1% at 31 December 2018 but growing compared to 41 , 9% at 30 June 2019 (50.6% at 30 September 2018).
As of September 30, 2019 the group's exposure to sovereign debt securities amounted to € 29.7 billion (from € 27.5 billion at 31 December 2018), classified for 55.7% in the portfolio of financial assets valued at amortized cost, for 33.7% among financial assets measured at fair value with impact on overall profitability and 10.6% in the portfolio of financial assets designated at fair value with impact on the income statement as they are held for trading.
The leaders of the group have declared that they expect that adjusted e-learning per share (EPS) for the year, net of non-recurring income, may exceed thirty euro cents.
