After the brief truce, the weather is getting worse again in part of Italy due to the advance of the new perturbation associated with an Iberian cyclonic vortex, progressively eastward. The areas of North-West Italy that have already been hit by torrential rains in recent days will also be affected by bad weather.

The pitfall of the deterioration is its slow evolution, by virtue of the persistence of a block anticyclone present to the east that hinders the progression of the perturbation. However, the low pressure in Iberia is moving eastwards in the direction of the Balearics, drawing not a little energy from the warm waters of the sea and from the warm-humid currents recalled by North Africa.

Temperatures, given the southern flows, remain for the moment much higher than normal. The new front associated with the depression begins to bring new thunderstorms starting from Sardinia and from the extreme North-West. The load of rain and storms will then invest other regions of Italy, but the entire Peninsula will not be involved.

Thursday's rainfall could also be very intense, with bad weather reaching the Tyrrhenian areas. Particular attention must be paid to the areas of Piedmont and Liguria already affected by bad weather, as the soils are saturated after the last very heavy rains. This time, however, the front should not insist too long.

The area of ​​low pressure, while gaining ground towards the Central Mediterranean, will continue to oppose a powerful anticyclonic promontory leaning towards Central-Eastern Europe and for this reason it will not be able to break through to the east. The fulcrum of the vortex will be nesting between the Major Islands and North Africa and here it will slowly lose energy over the weekend.

The result will be bad weather conditions in Sardinia and Sicily, while on the rest of the Peninsula time will go towards a clear improvement. Temperatures will drop slightly due to the attenuation of the sirocco flows recalled by the Saharan hinterland, but they will remain well above normal.

WEATHER THURSDAY 24, MALTEMPO ON PART OF THE NORTH, SARDINIA AND TIRRENO

Rains and thunderstorms Thursday we will find them from the first hours of the day in the North-West, of greater intensity on the Liguria of Levante, in partial extension to the North-East where the phenomena will appear however much more weak and sporadic. Expected bad weather also in Sardinia, especially on the eastern sectors, with a tendency to later variability.

The deterioration will involve Tuscany and Lazio during the day with rain showers and later thunderstorms, even during the evening. Not excluded stormy places. On the South and on the Adriatic regions large clearings will still prevail but with a progressive increase in clouds, with a tendency to showers and thunderstorms from the evening on western Sicily.

Subsequently, for Friday the bulk of the bad weather will hit Sardinia and Sicily, following the displacement of the cyclonic vortex on the Tunisian hinterland. Intense showers are expected above all on the eastern sectors of Sicily. Some showers or storms will also affect Lazio, Campania and Lower Calabria.

On the rest of central-southern Italy we will have variability, with alternating lightening and cloud cover. It also improves in the North, except for residual weak precipitations in Lower Piedmont and Romagna. On Saturday, showers and thunderstorms will still be likely on the islands and locally in the regions of the medium-low Tyrrhenian side, but in a more sporadic way.

The perturbed front, expected on Thursday, will cause a more evident temperature drop in the North-West, Sardinia and Tuscany, which will be the areas most affected by precipitation. In the last days of the week the out-of-season heat will be dampened even in the South, but this thermal drop will be very slight and therefore in most of Italy the temperatures will be higher than the averages of the period.
