Since Monday evening, a shutdown procedure of the refinery of Feyzin is in progress. It should come to an end in the day of Wednesday or Thursday morning.
Workers in the production sector have been on strike since Monday morning. They protest against a plan to remove seven positions, decided by the management of Total.
"The load of these positions will be transferred to other operators, explains Mickaël Corgier, regional reference FNIC-CGT. The employees concerned are revolted. According to the union representative, the strike is attended by 100% of the staff of the production services.
"The shortage is possible"
"We are asking for the maintenance of positions, says Mickaël Corgier. Total makes billions of profits and receives the Competitiveness and Employment Tax Credit (CICE) and the Research Tax Credit (RTC). The company has the means to hire and develop research. Solicited by Le Progrès, the management of the group has not yet expressed itself.
Employees plan an indefinite strike until their demands are heard. With the shutdown of the refinery, the supply of fuel to the metropolis and the department could become complicated.
"No production leaves the site since Monday, describes Mickaël Corgier. Stocks can run out quickly and there is a shortage if the population is stuck in the service stations. "
