Strong earthquake 4.4 at dawn in the Tyrrhenian Sea, fear in the Cosentino area

COSENZA – One strong earthquake shock has woken up the whole province of Cosenza. The seismic event, in fact, was distinctly felt by the population and was recorded by the seismographs of the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology this morning at 6.31 only 11 kilometers deep. The shock had one magnitude of 4.4 with epicenter at sea in the Tyrrhenian cosentino between Diamante and Scalea alone 11 km deep. The earthquake was felt especially in almost the entire Tyrrhenian coast not only in the province of Cosenza, up to Basilicata. Several phone calls arrived to the fire department and many people from the fear poured into the street. At 6.38 am, a second milder aftershock of magnitude 2.5 always occurred at a depth of 11 km.

From 6:30 am the railway traffic on the Sapri – Lamezia Terme line is suspended for inspections of the infrastructure by the RFI technicians following an earthquake that affected the area
