Sony has already confirmed that its future PlayStation 5 will be compatible with PS4 games. But how much? The team ensures working on complete backward compatibility.

It is now official: the PS5, Sony's future console, will be released on the market at the end of 2020. By then, the Japanese manufacturer is gradually revealing its specificities, in particular the integration of an SSD on which it insists particularly.

For the rest, we already know that the console will be compatible with PS4 games, both having a similar architecture. But how much? The Japanese newspaper Famitsu asked the development team about this issue.

The PS5 is looking for full backward compatibility with the PS4

The answer is pretty simple: Sony is studying the issue for now, but is working on full backward compatibility. The officials of the brand have indeed replied:

" We will do our best to ensure that the development team can provide complete backward compatibility. We check it. Please wait for more information ".

For the moment, only Microsoft has really looked into the issue and offers Xbox One players a large list of Xbox 360 compatible Xbox 360 and Xbox titles. In semi-response, Sony had then proposed some PS2 titles on its PlayStation Now cloud gaming service.

More and more players are expressing themselves in favor of both online game sharing between consoles and backward compatibility. On these two points, the Japanese manufacturer is the slowest to open, but the PS5 could finally launch this movement. We hope that in addition to the PS4, the PS3, PS2 and PS1 will also be concerned. It would be a shame to never taste Persona 3 FES.
