According to a tweet published by Morgan Creek Digital Assets co-founder Anthony Pompliano, the eighteen millionth Bitcoin (BTC) should be undermined this Friday.

Pompliano also noted that, at this point, only three million BTCs remained to be undermined. In the tweet, the investor invites his followers to use the hashtag # 3MillionLeft to let the world know about Bitcoin:

"The eighteen millionth Bitcoin will be mined on Friday. Only another 3 million remain. We carry the hashtag # 3MilionLeft on the trend to make Bitcoin known to the world. "

Unsurprisingly, the initiative started in Pompliano, as the investor declared during CNBC's Squawk Box program that more than half of its net assets are in Bitcoin. According to the BitcoinBlockHalf website, so far, the BTCs extracted are 17,997,150, while the maximum BTC limit is set at 21 million.

The Bitcoin block reward will decrease

As the number of coins remaining to be gained through the Bitcoin blockchain security algorithms continues to decline, the BTC halving is approaching. After the so-called halvening, the amount of Bitcoins coined with each new block will be halved.

BitcoinBlockHalf estimates that May 14, 2020 – the date is indicative, given the irregularity of the block time of the network – the block reward will be cut from 12.5 to 6.25 coins. The website also points out that 85.7% of all coins have already been undermined.
