CHRONICLE – Last Friday, Thierry Bollore, the CEO of Renault was brutally landed by the board of directors. His succession will be a challenge.
Just a year ago, at the World Policy Conference (WPC) in Marrakech, Carlos Ghosn praised the Renault-Nissan Alliance, which, he said, was"Avoid blind spots". Four weeks later, the CEO was arrested in Tokyo for facts reported to the Japanese courts by Nissan officials. For a blind spot, it was one! Carlos Ghosn had not seen anything coming.
Thierry Bollore either did not feel so threatened. But last Friday, the CEO of Renault was brutally disembarked by the board of directors. He left his office in Boulogne-Billancourt the same day. Too many cover-ups on the real market of the company, too much brutality in management and not enough results, they say at the Losange headquarters.
The two dismissals have nothing to do, neither in the motive, nor – fortunately for Thierry Bollore – in the way. But from one to the other is written the story of a deep crisis that has lasted since
