The Leopards were beaten on October 13 by the Elephants on the mark of a goal to three. It was their second outing as part of the international truce after the memorable draw of a goal all against the Fennecs of Algeria. Against Côte d'Ivoire, coach Christian N'sengi made two changes compared to the starting lineup of the first match, with Samuel Moutoussamy becoming the starter (preferred to Wilfried Moke).
Perfect Mandanda kept the Congolese goals before being replaced at the break by Antony Mossi. In defense, Jordan Botaka positioned on the right, Ava Dongo and Chancel Mbemba on the axis, Masuaku on the left. Chadrac Akolo on the left side (instead of Yannick Bolasie) and Jackson Muleka on the right (replacing Neeskens Kebano). Gael Kakuta and Paul-Jose Mpoku animated the game. Cedric Bakambu was at the forefront of the attack. The Leopards thus positioned themselves in 4-1-4-1, as against the Fennecs of Algeria three days rather.
On the Elephants side, goalkeeper Sylvain Gbohouo of TP Mazembe of Lubumbashi was the holder. And in the field, Konan, Traore, William Kanon, Serge Aurier, Frank Kessie, Maiga, Fofana, Nicolas Pepe, Wilfried Zaha and Max-Alain Gradel.
Athletically superior, the Elephants managed to monopolize the game in the first period. William Kanon opened the mark at the 22e mn, enjoying a lethargy of Congolese defense at the exit of an Ivorian combination. Then it is Nicolas Pepe who was at the conclusion of an incursion of Wilfried Zaha on the right flank of the defense of Leopards, a little apathetic, in the 44th minute.
In the second half, there were changes in the Leopards' camp. Antony Mossi took the place of Mandanda in the 46th minute, Kakuta gave his in Kebano and Muleka was replaced by Bolasie. The players of N'sengi Biembe were more present in midfield. Moutoussamy scratched balloons. On a pass from Bolasie, Chadrac Akolo reduced the gap to 64e min. The Leopards even missed the equalizer. Moutoussamy found Bakambu whose head ball crashed on Sylvain Gbohouo's right post. Affected by the adductors, Mbemba left the play area of the unicorn stadium, at the 84e mn, giving way to Kevin Mondeko. As the match ended, Wilfried Zaha, in a counter-attack, put the right-back Jordan Botaka in the wind before deceiving goalkeeper Antony Mossi for the Ivorians' third goal.
This second exit Congolese was quite disappointing, despite the game produced in the second half. New breeder, N'sengi Biembe must gradually print his mark among the Leopards.
