Disabled segregated in chains, horror to Naro: arrested the two uncles tutors

The sad discovery was made to Naro, in the province of Agrigento. The two were arrested by the carabinieri for ill-treatment and kidnapping.

The carabinieri of the Naro station and those of the Licata company, after interceptions and stalking, broke into the house on Saturday and freed the young man.

The investigation was coordinated by Agrigento's chief prosecutor Luigi Patronaggio and deputy Gloria Andreoli. The guardians of the disabled are two spouses. They are accused of abuse and kidnapping.

From that prison-bed, in a small building in the historic center of Naro, the thirty-three-year-old mentally disabled could just get off and perhaps take a step since the chain was no more than a meter long. He had been entrusted to the uncles couple because his mother had mental health problems.

Upon arrival of the military, the two guardians were surprised and tried to mumble justifications. The carabinieri climbed upstairs and a chilling scene was found before their eyes. The bed was placed in the hallway of the corridor. Under the covers was the thirty-year-old whose ankle was tied with a chain, to the bed frame.

The carabinieri "aware of the extremely delicate mental situation of the victim, reassured him and showed him attentions and caresses, affection". The young man helped the soldiers open the two padlocks. And when he got back on his feet, he warmly thanked them. Pending the validation hearing, they were taken to the Agrigento prison and will appear tomorrow in front of the magistrate Luisa Turco.

The carabinieri of Naro had suspicions about that couple: in a small town the rumors about the horrors of that house followed one another. An investigation was therefore initiated and "bugs" were also placed. The investigators were, by their own admission, sentiments of anger and affection towards the unfortunate young man. After being released, the boy was taken to a specialized center for the necessary care and assistance.
