The man went to the citizen's state bank in the town of Groveton and asked for a large amount of money, stating that he owned a weapon. According to Sheriff of the city, Woody Wallace, Heath Bumpous escaped, but two hours later, he showed up at the police station. The sheriff's office quickly broadcast footage from the bank's surveillance cameras. The fiancee of the suspect then recognized him, then convinced him to surrender.
