We can never say it enough: beware of attractive offers on the internet. Recently, a fraudulent copy imitating perfectly the particular space of the site impots.gouv.fr was born. The page offered to consult your "tax refund".

To do this the user had to enter his bank details, which were then in possession of the hackers. Only distinction with the government site? The addition of .app in the URL of the latter. What to trick even the most informed Internet users.

The General Directorate of Public Finance has taken the necessary measures to close the fake website, which is currently out of order. But the state agency encourages users to remain vigilant. This scam is far from a unique case.

Last September, the French police chief of finance (ACPR) warned the public "against a phenomenon of mass duplication of fraudulent online banking sites ". Another example, in 2017, the Directorate General of Competition, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Prevention alerted on the existence of copies of the Internet pages of the Public Service. She had, at the time, counted no less than sixty.

How not to be had?

To avoid this type of inconvenience, it is recommended to always check the address of the site you are onespecially if you need to use your bank details on it. Generally the presence of "s" in "https" indicates that the page is checked and secured. If he is not there, beware.

When you perform, for example, your tax procedures, connect directly to the dedicated page via the URL and not by keywords in the search engine. "Always check that you are on impots.gouv.fr, then https://cfspart.impots.gouv.fr/ when you want to access your particular space", said the DGFIP.

Finally, never open email attachments from someone you do not know. Especially if the address of the addressee seems suspicious. This will prevent many viruses and possible data theft.
