The news is not good for the ASSE ! While the club is still savoring the victory over its great rival, including OL, in the derby, he has just learned a very bad news!

ASSE saddened by the disappearance of one of its former leaders.

Forty-eight hours after the success against the neighbor and enemy OL, supporters, players, technical support and leaders of the ASSE continue to rejoice. However, they will have to shorten their joy because the club is struck by an unfortunate event.

Indeed, the Greens have just lost an illustrious personality. In an official statement, theAS Saint-Étienne expressed deep sorrow at the disappearance of Yves Guichard.

"It is with great emotion and sadness that AS Saint-Etienne learned of the death of Yves Guichard. Son of Pierre Guichard, first president of the club, and grandson of Geoffroy Guichard, he died on Monday at the age of 85 years. He has always had a great passion for football and the Greens.

Leaders, coaches, players and employees of the club extend their deepest condolences to the family of Yves Guichard, "wrote the ASSE, before presenting the missing.

"Born in 1935, Yves Guichard accompanies his father very young at the edge of the fields. This passion only grew in contact with the amateur section that he supervised as a leader from 1962.

He is a privileged witness to the victory in the final of the 1963 Gambardella Cup and contributes to the birth of the training center (1968), two events that will allow a generation of young players to launch two decades of Saint-Etienne domination over French football.

He is then vice-president at the request of Roger Rocher who entrusts him with the management of the finances of the club. As an influential member of ASSE, Yves Guichard took part in strategic decision-making in the 1980s before succeeding André Laurent as President.

Elected on July 20, 1993, he made significant investments. He is responsible for the return of Robert Herbin to the post of coach in 1987, Jean-Michel Larqué a general manager and recruits major players such as Laurent Blanc and Roland Wolfarth.

He will leave the presidency on May 6, 1994, but will remain one of the most faithful supporters of ASSE, "recalled the Forez club.
