The new advertising campaign of Bicky Burger, this burger sold in the chip shops, is widely debated on social networks. This advertisement depicts a man punching a young woman with a saying: "serious, a fake bicky". Contacted by us, the marketing department of the company that markets the "Bicky Burgers", said they do not want to comment on this poster. At a time when awareness campaigns against violence against women are increasing, this means that advertising is in bad taste.

"It's a serious matter that it's totally irresponsible to trivialize"

And this advertising has also caused reaction in the political world. Zakia Khattabi, former co-president of Ecolo, has announced that she has lodged a complaint with the Advertising Ethics Jury for trivializing violence against women.

The new Walloon Minister for Women's Rights Bénédicte Linard has declared on Facebook and via her Twitter account:

"In Belgium in 2017, 38 women were killed because they were women. In 2016, 18,000 complaints were registered for domestic violence in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation. It is a serious matter that it is totally irresponsible to trivialize Bicky Burger. As Minister of Women's Rights, I will work with my colleagues on these daily realities that are chilling. It is within our majority agreement and it must be tackled head-on, from early childhood awareness to qualification and judicial processing. "
