6.8 billion taxes on European products

The commercial battle between the United States and Europe is opening. As of Friday, October 18, Washington is expected to set up 6.8 billion euros of additional customs duties on European products. These customs sanctions were made possible by the condemnation of Europe by the World Trade Organization (WTO). The wine tax could increase by 25%. A blow to the domain of Château Puech-Haut in the Languedoc which carries 30% of its exports to the United States.

The concern is shared by the entire profession. For Louis-Fabrice Latour, Vice President of the Federation of Exporters, it is a crisis that "adds to an already fragile international context, an economic recession in China (…) BrexitCustoms penalties of 25% will apply among other things on wine and cheese, while the planes will be taxed at a rate of 10%, while all of Europe is overtaxed, such as pork in Germany or olives in France. Spain, a total of 150 products would be impacted.
