New England would be giving Brown a contract for one year and up to $ 15 million, the source said. It would include a signing bonus of 9 million.
The agreement comes hours after the receiver was cut by Oakland Raiders, ending a turbulent stay with the team after it was acquired by redemption during the low season.
Brown turned to his social networks after he reached an agreement.

Brown was eligible to sign with any team at 4:01 p.m. Eastern time on Saturday. Because of that, he is not eligible to play until Week 2, at least, which means Brown will miss the first game of the New England regular season on Sunday night against his former team, the Pittsburgh Steelers. Patriots and Raiders do not face this campaign.
