Seoul, Sep 6 (EFE) .- The Seoul Stock Exchange closed today with a 0.22% advance in its main indicator, the Kospi, driven once again by optimism towards the new round of trade negotiations between the United States and China .
The Kospi, which on Thursday overcame the psychological barrier of 2,000 points for the first time since the beginning of last August, rose today 4.38 points, to 2,009.13 integers.
In contrast, the Kosdaq technology index fell 0.29% or 1.84 points, to 631.15 units.
As yesterday, the Kospi advanced, although less than Thursday, in reaction to the announcement that next October Chinese and US representatives will meet again to try to overcome the trade war that has affected the two nations since last year.
Samsung Electronics, the leading South Korean stock market firm, rose 1.31%, but the world's second microchip manufacturer SK Hynix lost 1.33%.
In other sectors, the pharmaceutical company Celltrion gained 0.91% and Samsung BioLogics yielded 0.72%.
Hyundai Motor, the leading automaker, fell 0.39%.
