UA US death row inmate, who ultimately opted for the electric chair rather than a lethal injection, was executed Thursday night in the state of Tennessee, the local prison administration said.
Stephen West – a murderer more than thirty years ago of a mother and daughter – "was executed by the method of electrocution," wrote in a statement the prison administration. The prisoner was "pronounced dead" at 7:27 pm local (02H27 Friday HB) in a Nashville penitentiary.

Stephen West was denied Tuesday a petition for pardon filed with Republican Tennessee Governor Bill Lee. "After a thorough review of Stephen West's request for pardon and the case, the state of Tennessee's sentence will stand, and I will not intervene," he said in a statement.

According to local media, Stephen West refused until the last moment to choose his method of execution, probably hoping to delay it.
Earlier this year, a convict chose the electric chair at the last minute, which gave him a ten-day stay.
