The burnt corpse of Bee Love Slater, a 23-year-old transgender woman, was found in an abandoned car on Wednesday, September 4th in Florida, USA. Police favor the homicide trail, reports the New York Times relayed by RTL.

The authorities took several days to determine the identity of the victim, whose body was "unrecognizable", according to the American daily. "We have no evidence so far to show that this is a hate crime," the sheriff said.

Black transgender women targeted

The police, however, are investigating messages sent to Bee Love Slater via social networks. The words are not considered threatening, but their sending constitutes a desire to harm the young American.

Counting the death of the young woman, at least 18 transgender people were killed in 2019 in the United States, according to the association
LGBT + Human Rights Campaign. "These victims are not statistics," the association wrote on Twitter this Saturday. But people with hopes, dreams, loved ones and communities they will miss every day. The majority of those killed were black women.
