Vietnam, which will assume a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council in 2020-2021 and the ASEAN Chairmanship in 2020, will continue to contribute to the maintenance of peace, security and cooperation in the region and the world, said the ambassador of Vietnam to the United States, Hà Kim Ngoc during a ceremony held Wednesday, September 11.Welcoming the dynamic development of the comprehensive partnership between Vietnam and the United States, the diplomat noted that the two countries share strategic interests in addressing international and regional issues, including peacebuilding, security, rules-based cooperation and order in the Indian Ocean and Asia-Pacific, and the assurance of safety, security and freedom of navigation and overflight, as well as lawful economic activities in the Eastern Sea.

In response, US Assistant Secretary of State David Stilwell said that Vietnam and the United States are working together to address challenges in the Indo-Pacific region, including regional security issues, in the Mekong subregion , helping to maintain a peaceful and prosperous region.

For his part, Assistant Assistant to US President Matt Pottinger conveyed the congratulations of President Donald Trump to Vietnam for the National Day of the country. The US thanked Vietnam for hosting the second US-Democratic People's Summit in Hanoi.

Matt Pottinger said that the full partnership between Vietnam and the United States is progressing stronger than ever and that the United States continues to support Vietnam in its efforts to defend independence and sovereignty in the East Sea.

In London, Vietnam's ambassador to the United Kingdom, Tran Ngoc An, reviewed Vietnam's development stages before expressing its joy at the continued development of the strategic partnership between the two countries.

Minister of State for the Department of International Trade, Cornor Burns, told him that the United Kingdom persists in its "Global Britain" policy and attaches importance to promoting full relations with Vietnam by granting priority to sign the free trade agreement between the two countries after the departure of the United Kingdom from the European Union.
