The rally was calm, with the police just watching the stream of protesters, some of whom sung the Star Spangled Banner, the American national anthem.
"Fight for freedom, hold on with Hong Kong," they chanted as they converged on the US consulate.
"Resist Beijing, free Hong Kong."
