The importance of a multi-scientific approach

Remember the lunar rover Audi AI: Trail four? Well, it's just an example. A closer look at the two sectors – mechanical / engineering and aerospace – are not that far apart. Argotec is an Italian aerospace engineering company founded in 2008 in Turin, today a world excellence in the production of micro satellites. With this Audi shares the strategic approach based on such values osmosis and receptivity to other disciplines: aerospace and environmental engineering, medicine, avionics, chemistry, military ballistics and urban planning. All together to develop technologies that are beneficial to citizens and the community.

There are many examples of these fruitful multi-scientific collaborations. Just think of the electronic help systems for ADAS drivers (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), which today's cars have learned thanks to space shuttles. These in fact transmitted continuous and wide-spectrum images to the ground, monitoring everything that revolved around them, and from here were born the control units that, on the Audi, detect data using radar sensors, cameras and ultrasonic sensors. A real "digital inspection" without interruption, which allows assistance systems to intervene with precision and timeliness in case of danger.

And it's not over. How much of the autonomous driving we are talking about derives from drone technology? Very very much! As well as the use of LED lights with laser technology (mounted on Audi R8, A8, A7 Sportback, Q7 and A5), used for decades in the military field because they are indispensable to the ballistics. There is also interaction in environmental matters, as in the case of Audi plant in San Jose Chiapa, Mexico, where there is a purification system able to treat 100% of the waste water, purifying it to feed the factory. Systems that Audi is now also bringing home to Ingolstadt.
