After more than twenty-five years in the leadership of the Chilean LAN Airlines and later of the merger with the Brazilian TAM Linhas Aéreas, of LATAM Airlines Group, its current executive director, Enrique Cueto, will retire from the function from March next year, to be succeeded by the current commercial vice president of the group, Roberto Alvo Milosawlewitsch.
The change in leadership of the largest aeronautical group in Latin America, which will take place on March 31 of next year, will allow a planned transition without affecting current strategic priorities and ongoing projects, LATAM Airlines said in a statement. This significant announcement comes in a context of solidity in which the group successfully faces a long period of complex global and regional scenarios, and has been able to make a transformation rarely seen in the global aeronautical sector, creating the largest airline network from all over the region.
The appointment of Roberto Alvo Milosawlewitsch comes after a planned succession process, which began last year, which he considered internal and external candidates. The unanimous decision of the board of directors to appoint Alvo Milosawlewitsch has taken into account the eighteen experience in the airline, successfully occupying different chairs in the areas of finance, fleet, planning and in recent years, in charge of the commercial area.
With passenger subsidiaries in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay and Peru, LATAM Airlines is the largest and most important Latin American aeronautical group. Its fleet currently consists of more than 324 aircraft that serve more than 140 destinations worldwide, transporting more than 70 million passengers each year. It has a workforce of more than 40 thousand employees, with annual revenues of more than 8.4 billion dollars.
