A terrible accident occurred on Saturday at the first of two Formula 2 races on the Spa-Francorchamps circuit, involving three cars, some of which were shredded by the violence of the crash.
The high-speed pileup occurred at the start of the second lap of the race and touched the American Juan Manuel Correa, the Japanese Marino Sato, and the Frenchman Anthoine Hubert. The car of the latter was cut in two by the shock, and theThe 22-year-old pilot died of his injuriesannounced the race organizers.
Correa was taken to the hospital with broken legs. Marino Sato was seen moving on his own after the accident. The press conferences scheduled after the F1 qualifying session have been canceled.

A promising young driver
Born in Lyon on September 22, 1996, Anthoine Hubert had been French champion in F4 in 2013 and GP3 Series last year. He was also a development driver for Renault in the Renault Sport Academy.
He ran in F2 for the British team BWT Arden. The F2 is the last step of the promotion formulas before the F1 and Hubert occupied before the Spa races 8th place in the championship after 16 trials.
